Case #2
Two Filipino domestic workers were in touch with their friend who was back in Manila, Philippines. Their friend had been repatriated suddenly by her employers because she had complained to the female employer that the father-in-law had molested her and that a younger male family member had molested her on five separate occasions. When asked about why she was silent over her treatment, she said that her debts to her employment agency had caused her to tolerate the situation. She was also afraid that she might be repatriated. And true enough she was repatriated: she was given only three hours to pack and leave Singapore with no access to anyone.
TWC 2 is liaising with NGOs in Philippines to help the worker file a case against the employer as they have already employed another worker. Especially because she shared the case with her friends even before she was repatriated and she appears to have been repatriated hastily to prevent her from seeking justice, TWC2 is keen to help her find her dignity and livelihood again.
