Labour Day's a rest day for hardworking locals, who also enjoy a weekly day off. But it's not a done deal for everyone. Only half the maids here have a regular day off, according to a Sunday Times poll in 2003.
So non-government organisations (NGOs) Unifem Singapore, Humanitarian Organisation for Migration Economics (Home) and Transient Workers Count Too (TWC2) have joined hands to campaign for this 'basic labour right'.
As E-von Yeung finds out, that right makes a huge difference to foreign domestic workers here.
