Mutual Respect
A booklet distributed free to employers who are hiring domestic workers for the first time or for those who have already hired one.
Introduction
About to hire a domestic worker, or already hired one and not sure how to handle certain things? This booklet is for you. It may not answer all your questions but it could help you to build a good working relationship with her, which is a very important thing if your family and her are going to live together for at least the next couple of years. This is why we have produced this little guidebook.
For a start, we think it is better to use the term 'domestic workers' than 'maids'. Sounds nicer that way although nobody is insisting. This guide begins by providing background information about the recruitment of foreign domestic workers so that you can better understand the pitfalls of employing one. Step-by-step, the guide discusses employment procedures, offering tips on choosing a proper employment agency, a suitable domestic worker, orientating a domestic worker and managing your relationship with her. The guide ends with contact details that can be helpful to both employers and domestic workers.
